Two interactive art performances, created with free creation tools, will be held simultaneously at Medialab-Prado in Madrid and at the UFBA in Salvador de Bahía, Brazil. The “action” consists of using the other group’s audiovisual material as the basis for a collective, improvised creation. Madrid will reinvent Salvador and Salvador will reinvent Madrid.  [streaming en directo]

Organized by: Fluxstudio group, coordinated by Jay Barros (Madrid), and Ecoarte group, coordinated by Fernando Krum (Salvador).

During the past two weeks, the two work teams– Fluxstudio in Spain and Ecoarte in Brazil—have exchanged sounds and images of their own cities. The installation proposed by Fluxstudio group, coordinated by Jay Barros, has two parts:

The images and sounds received from Brazil will be shown, treated and modified by the audience. At the same time, there will be a live performance with a female Flamenco dancer. The sounds of her feet stamping the wooden stage will be gathered live and mixed with the sounds of a Flamenco “cajón” (percussion box). Images of the dancer will be projected onto her body.

The interaction proposed in Salvador, coordinated by Fernando Krum of the Ecoarte group, will use the images and audiovisuals sent by the group in Madrid as a matrix, material to be freely manipulated and mixed.
The work is self-sustaining and continuously reconfigured through the active participation of the audience, who use sensors, markers, lights and shadows to control and reinterpret the Spanish views.
Simultaneously, during the action, there will be a live dialogue with Madrid, as the two cities are connected by live streaming.

This action by the FLUXSTUDIO work team, in collaboration with the ECOARTE group from Salvador (Brazil), is part of the Laboratorio procomún (Commons Lab) programme at Medialab-Prado.
